Terms of use

In effect from 4 October 2026. These terms cover the free tools on this website and at openecology.com.au/mcp. Paid plans have their own agreement.

1. Facts and sources, not advice

Open Ecology presents information drawn from government and other published sources, with those sources identified. It does not give ecological, planning or legal advice. Decisions about a property should be made with a suitably qualified professional and the official records.

2. Accuracy

Source data can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and mapping is indicative. Open Ecology is not an official government service, and the official reports and registers prevail.

3. Data licences

Queensland Government data is used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Keep the attribution shown with each result if you reuse it.

4. Fair use

The free tools are for individual lookups. Automated bulk extraction, or using the tools to rebuild the underlying datasets, is not permitted. Requests may be rate limited.

5. Liability

To the extent the law allows, the free tools are provided as they are, without warranty, and Poplar Group Pty Ltd is not liable for loss arising from their use. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

6. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Queensland.
